RMBHK is part of the academic center for Moi University School of Medicine and Indiana University School of Medicine. The hospital supports the training of medical students, residents, and other staff in state-of-the-art obstetric and neonatal care.

Because a number of deliveries are made in villages by traditional birthing attendants (TBAs), the hospital reaches out to these providers as well.
